Three very early Ernest Hemingway rarities,
including Hemingway’s Oak Park High School yearbook

In the “Senior Tabula, 1916”, the yearbook for Hemingway’s and his sister Marceline’s Oak Park High School for their Junior year, the young Ernest is listed and pictured as a member of the “Trapeze Staff” (a literary club), The Burke Debating Club, and the Minor Football team.

[ Hemingway, Ernest ]. Senior Tabula, 1916. ( Oak Park, IL: Oak Park H.S., 1916 ). Octavo, original wrappers. WITH: Poetry: A Magazine of Verse, Vol. 21, No. 4. Chicago: January, 1923. Small octavo, original green wrappers. WITH: This Quarter, Vol 1, No. 1. (Paris, 1925). Octavo, original tan wrappers.  $2100.

Besides the yearbook, the collection includes an issue of the magazine Poetry, printed in 1923, in which Hemingway contributed the three-page poem “Wanderings”, one of his earliest printed literary efforts; also included is the Paris literary periodical This Quarter, 1925, in which Hemingway published the very early Nick Adams story “Big Two Hearted River” and a very personal and revealing “Homage to Ezra”. All in excellent condition with light wear to wrappers (This Quarter with some chipping to wrappers and Poetry with light stamp on front wrapper and first page). Three revealing items of the young writer. Scarce.
