First edition in book form of Eliot's Four Quartets

Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden.

from "Burnt Norton"

ELIOT, T.S.  Four Quartets.  New York: Harcourt, Brace, 1943. Original black cloth, original dust-jacket.  $4200

First edition, first issue.  Book states "first American edition" on the copyright page; in the first state dustwrapper with price of $2.00 and nine titles on the rear panel (later issues have six titles).   Book fine in a very good dust-jacket with slight soiling to rear panel, just minimal edge-wear and a few small chips to spine corners.  A worthy copy of a rare and important book.
